It's also probably cheaper to live in than any other place you listed except maybe Austin. If you don't, then sell your tickets for that sweet, sweet money.
It's a pretty attractive student body as well.Įxpect the UNC-Duke rivalry to come up a lot, and the occasional 'What about NC State?' to be shot down. It's a majority-women school, with only 40% of the student body being male - but about a third of that 40% is gay. UNC tends kinda fratty, but you don't have to interact with Greek life if you don't want to.
Tons of things going on, very good food culture for the area. NC is a very purple state - Chapel Hill is part of the Triangle with Raleigh and Durham, which tends super blue. Fantastic school to go to if you're interested in STEM (I was in Chemistry there for my BS, currently working on my doctorate) or Business - and always an option for Grad/Med/Dental/Pharm school if you go somewhere else for undergrad and want to go beyond your Bachelors. I'm a UNC alumnus, graduated this past May - I definitely enjoyed my time there.
